What does this map actually show?
This map uses technical modelling to show predicted outdoor 4G and 5G coverage on the Telstra Wholesale mobile network. Think of it as a helpful tool for checking general mobile coverage before you sign up.
What factors affect my mobile coverage?
The nature of radio-based mobile networks is inherently variable. Signal strength and service availability can be affected by geographic surroundings such as hills, trees, buildings and weather, distance from a tower, network traffic, and whether you are indoors or in a vehicle. Coverage near the outer edges of the network is more likely to vary.
Why does my indoor mobile network coverage differ from outdoors?
The map is specifically built for outdoor use at ground level. When you search an address, you will also see a predicted indoor estimate, but thick walls, basements, lifts, and underground areas can all reduce your signal significantly while indoors.
What is the difference between 4G and 5G coverage?
4G covers a wider area and is the backbone of the MaxoSIM network. 5G delivers faster speeds but is available in selected areas only. Toggle between the two on the map to compare coverage at your location.
Do I need a 5G phone to use MaxoSIM?
No. MaxoSIM runs on 4G across a wide coverage area and works with any compatible 4G device. If you want to access 5G, you'll also need a 5G compatible device, an eligible MaxoSIM plan that includes 5G, and be within a Telstra Wholesale 5G coverage area. If 5G is unavailable at your location, your device will automatically fall back to 4G.
How up to date is the coverage information?
Coverage information is supplied by Telstra Wholesale and updated regularly to reflect network changes.
Where do I check for outages if I'm having connection issues?
The coverage map shows predicted coverage, not live network status. For current outages or service interruptions, please check the Telstra network status page or get in touch with our support team.
