What are Data Bolt-Ons?
Data Bolt-Ons can be used to increase the data quota available to your SIM service, as an alternative to upgrading your plan.
There are two types of data bolt-ons you can apply.
Auto Bolt-Ons
An auto bolt-on, when enabled, will apply automatically when your service has exhausted its plan data inclusion. This can add a data block to your service up to 5 times in a month.
Each time it applies the indicated bolt-on charge is applied to your account and the additional data block is applied to your service. Only when this data block is exhausted will another bolt-on be activated.
If you use all 5 bolt-ons, you will be unable to use any additional mobile data unless you upgrade your plan or enable the recurring bolt-on.
As a practical example using a 30GB plan and 2GB auto bolt-ons:
When you are within your plan's inclusion, no bolt-on will apply:
If you use you full plan's inclusion, an auto bolt-on is applied to increase your available data to 32GB (1x bolt-on charge)
If you exhaust the additional data provided by the bolt-on, another auto bolt-on applies for a total of 34GB (2x bolt-on charges).
Recurring Bolt-Ons
A recurring bolt-on, when enabled, will incur the indicated charge and apply the additional data to your service at the start of each month.
This only occurs once per-month and is applied regardless of the usage of your service's data inclusion.
For example, using a 30GB mobile plan and 10GB recurring bolt on, your service will have the following available at the start of the month:
Usage Priority
Your service will utilise data bolt-ons in the following order:
- Your plan's included quota
- Recurring bolt-on (if enabled)
- Auto bolt-ons (if enabled, up to 5 per month)
- PAYG excess data usage (if enabled)
Managing Bolt-Ons
To manage your bolt-on, login and select Mobile Services. Locate the service you wish to update and from the Actions drop-down, select Manage Bolt-Ons
To activate a bolt-on, select it from the drop down and click Add Bolt On.
To remove a previously applied bolt-on, click the trash can icon corresponding to the bolt-in in the Current Bolt-Ons table.
